Been reflecting on the measures that school will take against those who apparently violated the honour code... The measures are extreme and I suppose one could debate them indefinitely... But, its not their extremeness which is alarming... Some of these will affect those involved for a long time... Any measure which is so extreme and pervasive can never drive home an idealogy... at best it can intimidate a few... The question that we need to ask is, is that what is required?
I will always remember my Head Master at School for his ability to give people chances... There was a certain guy who came in after being expelled from a residential school and being refused admission in most private schools... I guess if you have faith in the system you have built then you don't need to weed out people you just need an atmosphere to reform them... From where I see it, those affected took certain short cuts and now the concerned authorities are taking their set of short cuts...
